About Event

CONCRETUS 20’ is a two National level technical fest organized by the Department of Civil engineering, SRM Institute of science and technology in association with the Indian Concrete Institute.
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” Hence anything is done with involvement results in deep learning. With this as the motto of CONCRETUS 20’, it offers a wide range of events and workshops for students pursuing their undergraduate and postgraduate courses in civil engineering and Architecture, by involving them in solving day to day technical problems in an innovative way. This makes the students think laterally and helps them in strengthening their foundation to make their future more technical and innovative.
There are various competitions going to be held in this technical fest, namely, DAVIDOVITS (Geopolymer concrete for novel construction), AITCIN (High-performance concrete), CURVA GEOMETRIA (Complex transportation problems), GEOWALL (Mechanical stabilization of earth fill). GEOVIDEO (Pictorial explanation of basic Geotechnical concepts) and CONSILID (Full-fledged city planning and designing. These competitions involve younger minds to apply their theoretical learnings to bring up hidden innovations from them.
CONCRETUS 20’ also brings many workshops and hands-on training sessions, with the aim to build a Knowledge sharing platform between experts and the students, to enhance and strengthen them in specialized areas. The various workshops that are being conducted are Introduction to BIM, Introduction to Q-GIS, Self-compacting concrete, Practical applications on analysis and design, Coconut shell concrete, Rapid 3D Modelling using Arc-GIS and Introduction to prestressed concrete. These workshops aim in enhancing the knowledge of the students in the above topics and try to fill the void space in interacting with Industrial experts.
Any festival is incomplete without fun and enjoyment apart from the usual schedule. Hence, as an add on, many sports activities, like Badminton, basketball, etc. and Quiz sessions are held. The winners of the competitions are awarded with exciting prizes and based on points (includes participation, winning events and games), the overall trophy will be given to the college having the maximum points.
